TempSure Envi for Dry Eye Treatment in Toronto, Ontario

What is TempSure Envi?

TempSure Envi is a thermal radiofrequency device that delivers controlled heat to the eyelid area to treat Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) — the leading cause of evaporative dry eye.

Radiofrequency energy gently heats the deep tissue of the eyelids, liquefying the blocked oil in the meibomian glands and allowing it to be expressed. This restores the lipid layer of the tear film, improving tear stability and reducing dry eye symptoms. The heat also stimulates collagen production in the surrounding skin, improving eyelid texture and elasticity as a secondary benefit.

Does Spadina Optometry offer TempSure Envi in Ontario?

Yes. Spadina Optometry has the TempSure Envi device on-site at our clinic in downtown Toronto, Ontario, and provides treatments directly.

We use TempSure Envi as part of a structured dry eye management program — not as a standalone cosmetic service. Treatment is recommended based on clinical findings from your dry eye assessment.

Location: 477 Richmond St W, Suite 809, Toronto, ON M5V 3E7

What is thermal radiofrequency treatment for dry eye?

Thermal radiofrequency (RF) treatment uses electromagnetic energy to generate controlled heat within eyelid tissue. The heat:

  • Liquefies thickened or solidified meibum (oil) trapped in blocked meibomian glands
  • Allows the glands to express oil more freely into the tear film
  • Stimulates collagen production and improves the health of surrounding eyelid tissue

The result is a more stable tear film and reduced evaporative dry eye symptoms.

TempSure Envi is one of the primary RF devices used for this indication in Ontario optometry practices.

Who is a candidate?

TempSure Envi is well-suited for patients with:

  • Chronic dry eye driven by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction
  • Dry eye that has not improved adequately with drops, warm compresses, or lid hygiene
  • Blepharitis with significant eyelid margin involvement
  • Contact lens wearers with ongoing discomfort related to MGD

A dry eye assessment — including meibography if indicated — is required before treatment to confirm the underlying cause and establish whether TempSure Envi is appropriate.

What to expect during treatment

  • Duration: 45 to 60 minutes per session
  • Sensation: Gentle warming around the eye area and eyelid margins, similar to a warm stone massage
  • After treatment: Mild redness and temporary blur may occur but resolve quickly
  • Downtime: None — you can return to normal activities immediately

How many treatments are needed?

Most patients begin with a series of treatments to achieve full effect, followed by periodic maintenance sessions. The exact protocol depends on the severity of gland dysfunction and your clinical response. Your optometrist will outline a recommended plan after assessment.

Is it covered by OHIP or insurance?

TempSure Envi is not covered by OHIP. Some third-party insurance plans may provide partial reimbursement under dry eye treatment or medical aesthetics coverage. Coverage varies — we recommend checking your policy. All fees are discussed before treatment begins.
