Progressive Lens Fittings
Progressive lenses correct distance, intermediate, and near vision in a single pair. We fit them with precise measurements, demonstrate the lens zones with a trial frame, and support you through adaptation. We carry Hoya, ZEISS, and Shamir progressives at multiple tiers.
Quick guidance
- First-time wearer
- Try a trial frame during the exam to preview how the distance, intermediate, and reading zones feel before you commit.
- Heavy screen day
- Standard progressives have a narrow intermediate zone. Occupational lenses like the Hoya iD Workstyle widen it for desk and screen work.
- Struggling to adapt
- Come back in. We will re-check the fitting measurements, adjust the frame, and decide whether a lens design change is needed.
Who progressives are for
- Patients in their mid-40s and older with a moderate or higher add value
- People who need correction at distance, intermediate, and near and want a single pair
- Existing progressive wearers who want to upgrade designs, brands, or tiers
- First-time wearers who want a trial-frame demonstration before committing
Lens brands and tiers
We primarily fit progressives from Hoya, ZEISS, and Shamir, with multiple tiers from each manufacturer. We also have access to Essilor and Nikon for patients who prefer those brands.
A higher tier means wider usable zones for reading and computer work, with less peripheral distortion. For long screen days or complex prescriptions, the difference is meaningful. For occasional reading correction, a mid-tier design works well. We explain what each tier offers for your specific prescription so you can decide what is worth it.
Trial-frame demonstration
First-time progressive wearers can try a trial frame during the exam to experience the distance, intermediate, and reading zones before ordering a custom pair. The trial is a useful preview, not a perfect replica of the final lens — segment height and frame choice change where the zones land — but it lets you feel how multifocal correction works before you commit.
We pair the demonstration with a discussion of which Hoya, ZEISS, or Shamir design suits your prescription and how you spend your day.
How we fit progressive lenses
Fitting accuracy is the single biggest factor in whether progressives work. A millimetre or two off and the reading and computer zones will not line up with your eyes.
- Monocular pupillary distance. We measure each pupil to the bridge of your nose separately, not as a single combined number.
- Segment height. We measure the vertical position of your pupil within the frame you have chosen, with the frame sitting on your face the way you will wear it.
- Frame adjustment first. We fit and adjust the frame before measuring, so the measurements reflect how the glasses will actually sit.
- Remeasure after adjustments. If we change nose pads or temple bend after the initial measurement, we remeasure.
Measurements are taken with you standing naturally, looking straight ahead at eye level. It takes a few extra minutes, and it is the difference between progressives that work and ones that do not.
Adaptation support
The first one to two weeks in a new pair of progressives feels different. Soft blur in your peripheral vision and mild dizziness when you turn your head are normal as your brain learns to use the zones. Most patients adapt within two to three weeks.
Our advice during adaptation: wear them all day from the start, point your nose at what you want to see rather than moving your eyes, and look through the lower portion of the lens for reading and the middle for screens.
If after two to three weeks something still is not right — headaches, an unusable reading zone, persistent discomfort at your screen — come back in. We re-check the fitting measurements, adjust the frame, and determine whether the lens design needs to change. We do not consider the job done until the lenses work for you.
What is included with every pair
- Premium anti-reflective coating — reduces glare from screens and headlights

- One-year limited warranty on frames and lenses
Polarized and photochromic add-ons are available starting at $100. See lens options for the full range.
What to do next
Book a comprehensive eye exam. We assess vision at distance, intermediate, and near, walk through your daily tasks, and recommend the lens type and tier that fit — progressives, occupational lenses, readers, or a combination. If you choose progressives, fitting and adaptation support are included in the dispensing process.
