Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)

Overnight lenses that gently reshape the cornea while you sleep — providing clear daytime vision without glasses or contacts, and slowing myopia progression in children and teens.

Quick guidance

If your child has myopia
Ortho-K lenses can slow myopia progression by ~50% on average while providing clear daytime vision without glasses.
If you want glasses-free days
Wear the lenses overnight and remove them in the morning. No glasses or contact lenses needed during the day.
If you are active in sports
Ortho-K is especially popular with young athletes who need clear vision without the hassle of daytime lenses.

What is Ortho-K?

Ortho-K lenses are rigid gas permeable contact lenses that are worn overnight and allow for clear vision during waking hours without the need for spectacles or contact lenses. The lenses are meant to be worn every night and are specially designed for an individual's corneal shape and prescription to temporarily reshape the front surface of the eye to provide clear vision. The corneal molding is completely reversible.

Side-by-side corneal topography maps showing the eye's surface before and after orthokeratology treatment. The left map shows irregular corneal shape in red tones, while the right map shows a smoother, more uniform shape in blue tones after overnight Ortho-K lens wear.

Ortho-K and myopia control

Ortho-K lenses are widely used for the purpose of slowing the progression of myopia. Ortho-K lenses can slow the progression of myopia by, on average 50% in children, compared to those wearing single vision spectacles or contact lenses. Studies such as CRAYON looked at children between 8-15 years old and compared the myopia control effects between ortho-k lenses and single vision soft contact lenses. Children who wore ortho-k lenses for 2 years had less axial length growth compared to their peers wearing single vision contact lenses.
