Dr. Shayani Chatterjee, O.D.
Dr. Shayani Chatterjee joined Spadina Optometry in 2015. She grew up in Etobicoke and completed her Bachelors in Hon. Life Sciences at McMaster University before attending optometry school in Boston in 2009. She is thrilled to be back and practicing in her hometown of Toronto.
In 2008 after volunteering with Unite for Sight International she knew optometry was for her. She spent three weeks in southern India providing eye care to the less fortunate as an assistant to the ophthalmologists and optometrists. She is fluent in Bengali and Hindi.
She started her formal optometry studies in 2010 at the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA graduating in 2014. Her clinical externships included Boston Medical Center Ophthalmology, South Boston Community Health Centre, the Low Vision Clinic at the Buffalo VA Hospital and Providence Veterans Affairs in Rhode Island. She has had extensive training in ocular disease, binocular vision, low vision, pediatrics and contact lens fitting. Currently she splits her professional time between Spadina Optometry and few other clinics in the western part of the city.
Her professional memberships include the Ontario Association of Optometrist, the Ontario College of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association.
