How ordering works
Once you have a current contact lens prescription from Spadina Optometry, you can order lenses online through our ordering portal. Orders are delivered directly to your home.
You can also set up automatic refills — your lenses are reordered and shipped on a schedule that matches your replacement cycle. No reminders to set, no last-minute scrambles when you are down to your last pair. You can adjust or pause your refill schedule at any time.
Pricing
Our contact lens pricing is competitive with major online retailers. We work directly with lens manufacturers — and for many brands, manufacturer rebates are available that reduce your out-of-pocket cost further. We provide these rebates to patients when they apply.
The difference between ordering through us and ordering through a third-party website is not just price. When you order through us, your lenses are always matched to your current, verified prescription and fitting parameters. There is no guessing at base curves, no risk of ordering a brand that was not fitted to your eyes, and no expired prescriptions slipping through.
Why ordering through your clinic matters
Contact lenses are not interchangeable the way many consumer products are. A lens that has the right power but the wrong base curve or diameter will not fit your cornea properly. A lens that is a different brand or material than what was fitted may behave differently on your eye — different oxygen transmission, different moisture retention, different stability.
When you order through Spadina Optometry:
- Your prescription is always current — if it changes at your next exam, we update your order
- Your parameters are verified — base curve, diameter, brand, and material are exactly what was fitted
- Comfort issues have context — if something feels off, the team that fitted your lenses already knows your eyes and your history
- Refills are automatic — you do not run out and you do not overwear lenses past their replacement schedule because you forgot to reorder
When you order through a third-party retailer, the transaction is between you and a fulfillment warehouse. If the lenses are uncomfortable, or if you are not sure whether your prescription is still valid, you are starting from scratch with someone who has never seen your eyes.
Switching brands
If you are thinking about switching to a different contact lens brand — whether for comfort, cost, or availability — talk to us before you order. Different brands have different materials, base curves, water content, and oxygen permeability. A lens that works well for one patient may not work for another, even at the same prescription.
Switching brands requires a contact lens fitting to verify that the new lens fits and performs on your eyes. This is not a formality — it is how we prevent the comfort and fit problems that come from guessing.
Insurance
If your insurance plan covers contact lenses, we can apply your coverage when you order through us. Share your insurance details in advance or bring your card so we can confirm what is covered.
We direct-bill most major insurance providers. See insurance and direct billing for the full list.
When you need a new prescription
Contact lens prescriptions have an expiry date. If your prescription has lapsed or you have not had a contact lens exam recently, you will need an appointment before reordering. This is not a technicality — your eyes change, and a lens that fit well a year or two ago may not be the best option now.
Book an exam and we will confirm your prescription, check the fit, assess your eye health, and get your orders set up from there.
