Is there an optometrist near the Entertainment District?
Yes. Spadina Optometry is at 477 Richmond St W, Suite 809 — a short walk west of the Entertainment District, just past Spadina Avenue on Richmond Street West.
We have cared for downtown Toronto patients since 2002 as an independent, female-owned practice — the same team, knowing your eyes year after year.
How do I get here from the district?
From TIFF Bell Lightbox, Roy Thomson Hall, or the Royal Alexandra and Princess of Wales theatres on King Street, we are:
- Roughly a 10-minute walk west along King or Richmond
- One short ride on the 504 King or 501 Queen streetcar
- About a 10-minute walk from Osgoode Station (Line 1)
Booking around a shift schedule
The Entertainment District runs on restaurants, hotels, theatres, and venues — and a lot of our patients work those hours. We are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, so a morning appointment before an evening shift is often the easiest fit.
We direct-bill most major employer and union plans — Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and more — so you do not pay out of pocket and claim later. See our supported insurance plans, or book a time that works.
Eye emergency downtown?
If something is wrong with your eye during the day or before a shift, call us at 416-703-2797. We see urgent patients and can often fit you in the same day for:
- Sudden vision changes or loss
- Flashes of light or new floaters
- Eye pain, redness, or swelling
- Something stuck in your eye
No referral is needed. For a chemical splash or serious injury, go to the nearest emergency room first, then follow up with us. See when to call an optometrist versus going to the ER.
Do I need a referral to book?
No. In Ontario you do not need a referral to see an optometrist. You can book directly online or call us.
