We work by appointment
Spadina Optometry is an appointment-based clinic. Eye exams need to be booked, because each exam needs a doctor and an examination room set aside for you.
You can book online any time and see real availability rather than guessing. If nothing online works for you, or you are not sure what to book, call or message the office — staff can see the whole schedule and will help you sort it out.
Can you just walk in?
Sometimes, but do not count on it.
If a spot happens to be open, we can occasionally see a walk-in for an eye exam. But we may also be fully booked, in which case you would have made the trip for nothing. We would rather not waste your time.
The reliable approach is to call or text the office first. Staff can look at the schedule and tell you honestly whether there is room today, or find you the next realistic option. This is the same way we handle urgent problems — we will find a way to fit you in, but it works far better when we know you are coming.
What does not need an appointment
Plenty of things do not need a booking at all. During opening hours, you are welcome to simply stop by to:
- Browse frames and try things on
- Pick up an order that has come in
- Have glasses adjusted or repaired if they are loose, crooked, or uncomfortable
- Have a measurement taken as part of a fitting
If you let us know roughly when you are planning to come, we can make a note so someone is ready for you. That is a courtesy, not a requirement.
Urgent eye problems
If something is wrong — pain, a sudden change in vision, an injury, or new floaters and flashes — call or message us rather than just showing up. We treat these the way we treat walk-ins: we will find a way to fit you in, but staff need to know you are on your way so we can make room and get the right person to see you.
If it is a serious injury or a sudden loss of vision, do not wait for us. Go to an emergency department. See urgent eye problems for how to tell the difference.
